Negotiations of delegations of Uzbekistan and South Korea held29.03.2006 09:21 Official delegations of Uzbekistan and South Korea held extended negotiations in Seoul on Wednesday in the framework of the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan Islam Karimov.
The presidents of the two countries participated in the negotiations, which focused on expanding trade and economic cooperation. The sides noted that South Korea was a reliable economic partner of Uzbekistan in South-East Asia, and that the volume of mutual trade was increasing steadily.
At the same time, it was acknowledged that the potential of the two countries was not being used to its full. Thus, Uzbekistan and South Korea have possibilities to raise bilateral relations to a higher level in the fields of oil and gas, textile, heavy and light industries, electronics and new technologies.
During the talks, relations in the humanitarian sphere were also considered, including relations in the fields of science, education, healthcare, culture and tourism.
