Authorities hold talks in Andizhan

A group of armed men attacked the guards on duty of the patrol-sentry service and the military unit in Andizhan city between 00.30 and 01.00 am local time on 13 May.

Having seized tens of units of small arms, the armed people attacked the correctional labor colony and freed a group of the imprisoned.

They made an attempt to seize the buildings of the regional National Security Service and administration, but the attempt was prevented by the law-enforcement authorities.

As a result of the clashes, 9 people dies and 34 were injured.

At present, the group that attacked is blocked in two points of the city.

The authorities are conducting negotiations with them.
