A meeting of the Board of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in the city of Tashkent under the chairmanship of the Minister Azim Akhmedkhadjayev.

A meeting of the Board of the Ministry for Development of Information Technologies and Communications of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held in the city of Tashkent under the chairmanship of the Minister Azim Akhmedkhadjayev, during which the results of development of the ICT for the first half of 2018 were summed up, as well as issues of attracting foreign investments and implementing investment projects in IT sector were considered.

The event was attended by representatives of joint stock companies, enterprises and organizations in the field of information technologies and communications.

For the first half of this year, 690 kilometers of fiber-optic communication lines were laid, which significantly increased the capacity of local telecommunications networks. Along with this, the speed of connection to international Internet channels also increased, which exceeded 140 gigabits per second, which is 1.5 times more than at the beginning of this year.

Significant work was carried out in the field of improving the quality of mobile communications. The main attention in this direction was paid on remote regions, where previously there were many unreached territories by mobile network. Here, 1004 base stations were installed and put into operation, including 483 on 3G and 4G LTE technology. To date, the total length of local fiber-optic lines has reached 24.5 thousand kilometers, and the total number of base stations has exceeded 20 thousand.

Following the meeting, tasks and projects were considered, implementation of which is scheduled for this year.
