Informatization of society is imperative of our timeUzA, Viktor Nikolaev, 10 September 2009, 21:43 From 22 to 25 of September a Week of information and communication technologies «InfoCom-2009», which has already become traditional in the beginning of each fall, will take place. It includes a number of activities aimed at improving the work processes in the industry and is of interest for both specialists and for the many ICT users. As the correspondent of UzA learned from the Uzbek Agency of Communication and Information, the organizers of the ICT Week are Committee on Information and Communication Technologies of Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan, Coordination Council for Development of Computerization and Information and Communication Technologies, Uzbek Agency for Communication and Information, United Nations Development Program represented by the Project «ICT Policy» and the Association of ICT Enterprises and Organizations of Uzbekistan. Under the leadership of President Islam Karimov’s large-scale reforms in the socio-economic sphere, including in information and communication technologies (ICTs) are being carried out in Uzbekistan. Questions of an information space have found their conceptual reflection in Presidential Decree dated May 30, 2002 «On the further development of computerization and introduction of information and communication technologies», developed and consistently translated into practice program of computerization and ICT for 2002-2010. These documents clearly identified the development of computerization and information and communication technologies in the country in the near future, allowing progressively implementing serious steps in the formation of the national information space. National Summit on the Information and Communication Technologies Annual ICT Summit has attracted much attention not only of domestic experts; it is of interest of international experts from countries near and far abroad. The event is planned to discuss both general and policy issues, and more detailed problems in some areas. Consideration will be given to the topics, covering trends and major changes in regulatory policy, progress and challenges in implementing national programs of development of IT-technologies, use of ICT in various sectors, building of infrastructure. Particular attention will be paid to information security, further improvement of library / information centers, the system of ZiyoNET. At the same time in the cities of Tashkent and Nukus will be held annual national exhibition of information technology «ICTExpo-2009». The idea of the exhibition in two locations at the same time is dictated by the desire to show the increased regional level of penetration of information technology. A video link will be organized that will allow visitors to see exhibits of both exhibitions. The companies participating in the exhibition will demonstrate the latest developments in information technology; will present a wide range of services and solutions. Exhibition will be attended by representatives from Russia, Ukraine, China, Austria, Germany, Korea, Hungary and other countries along with domestic companies. The exhibition program is broad and varied and includes a wide range of educational seminars, «round tables», as well as recreational activities. An international conference «Problems of development of information and communication technology and training», to be held at the Tashkent University of Information Technologies will be within the ICT Week. Equally important event would be a republican scientific-practical seminar «The advanced methods and tools for building information and library resources». It will take as the republican phase of the contest «The best specialist (librarian), of the information and library and information resource centers».
