Universiad-2010 ends in Andijan

The fifth student’s sports games Universiad-2010 were held in Andijan on 28-30 May.

The best student athletes from the Karakalpakstan, Tashkent city and all regions of the country participated in the games in 12 sports. The participants fought for 176 gold, 176 silver and 191 bronze medals.

The Universiad closing ceremony was held at Soglom Avlod (Healthy Generation) stadium.

The Tashkent city team won the first place at the games. Andijan region team was second and Navoi region team came third.

The stadium is abuzz with joyful voices of young people. All congratulate the winners. The medal winners are awarded gifts of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Athletes who showed the highest results in different sports were awarded with diplomas and valuable presents.

At the end of the closing ceremony, the flag of the Universiad was handed over to the representatives of the next host of the event – Bukhara region.

Artists performed songs devoted to the Motherland, youth and sports.

Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the closing ceremony of the Universiad-2010.
