Intl boxing tournament kicks off

International boxing tournament in the memory of Sidney Jackson, renowned Uzbek trainer, started in Tashkent. Over 100 athletes from Uzbekistan, Russia, Germany, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Chinese Taipei are participating in the event.

On the first day of the tournament, Alisher Mahmudov defeated Diyorbek Qodirov in weight category under 49 kg with a score of 10-2.

In 52 kg, Rahmonbek Toshmatov defeated Ruziboy Farmonov 3-2, and in under 60 kg, Fazliddin Goyibnazarov scored a victory over Muhiddin Mamajonov with 9-3.

Javlonbek Qurbonov, Rafikjon Sultonov, Olim Nazarov and Dilshod Rahimov also celebrated their first victories at the tournament.

Kazakh boxers Birzhan Zhakipov, Samat Bashenov and Miras Yakupov, as well as Kyrgyz athlete Asilbek Talasbayev were also among the winners on the first day.
