Tashkent hosts an international workshop on “Development of a reform strategy for state-owned enterprises in Central Asia”
The State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Assistance to Privatized Enterprises and Development of Competition, the Republican Center for Training in the Basics of Entrepreneurship jointly with the Asian Development Bank Institute (ADBI) are holding international workshop on “Development of a reform strategy for state-owned enterprises in Central Asia”, on July 24-26.
According to the Information Service of the Committee, the purpose of the workshop is to discuss problematic issues of functioning of state enterprises, corporate governance and privatization.
Current problems, goals and possible agenda for reforms in state enterprises, procedures and process of privatization in Central Asia are being discussed at the event. Experience of Korea, Thailand and Malaysia on reforming and increasing the efficiency of enterprises with state participation, complex assessment of the economic efficiency of state-owned enterprises were considered.
On the third day of the event, conduction of an exit session is planned at the State Committee for Assistance to Privatized Enterprises and Development of Competition, as well as a visit to one of the enterprises in the city of Tashkent.
