Winners of "Eng ulug, eng aziz" contest announced

The winners of the annual national contest “Eng ulug, eng aziz”, devoted to the 19th anniversary of the state independence of Uzbekistan, were awarded on 24 August in Tashkent.

The contest has been organized by the Press and Information Agency, Journalists’ Creative Union, Arts Academy, Tasviriy Oyina association, Public Fund for Supporting Independent Press and News Agencies, National Electronic Media Association, Writers Union, Uzbekkino national agency and the National TV and Radio Company.

The purpose of the contest is identifying the best works in literature, art and journalism that reflect the achievements of the country during the years of independence.

This year, more than 2,000 people presented over 8,000 works in nominations like prose and poetry, press publications, TV and radio programs, visual arts, cinema and photography.

Below is the list of the contest winners:

1. Prose and poetry

1st place: Jumaniyaz Jabbarov, national poet of Uzbekistan, for collection of selected works “Kunglim kitobi” (“Book of my soul”)
2nd place: Matnazar Abdilhakimov, researcher of Khorezm Mamun Academy, for books “Mangulik jamoli” (“Face of the eternity”) and “Ilm sarchashmalari” (“Sources of knowledge”)
3rd place: Yangibay Kuchkorov, deputy chairman of the Writers Union of Karakalpakstan, for dastan “Un tukkizinchi dovon” (“Nineteenth pass”)

Incentive awards:

1. Nilufar Umarova, Uzbek language and literature teacher at Pedagogical College in Karshi, Kashkadarya region
2. Malik Egamov, member of the Writers Union of Uzbekistan

2. Print media

1st place: Husniddin Berdiyev, deputy editor of National Information Department of Uzbekistan National News Agency, for a series of articles on sociopolitical and economic topics
2nd place: Jumanazar Melikulov, member of Journalists’ Creative Union, for articles on spiritual and educational topics
3rd place: Husan Temirov, Kashkadarya region correspondent of Qishloq Hayoti newspaper, for materials on economic reforms and construction of modern houses in rural areas

Incentive awards:

1. Rislikkhon Majnunova, head of department of Namangan Haqiqati newspaper
2. Hurshidbek Ruziyev, inspector of information department of Tashkent Region Internal Affairs Department

3. Television and radio materials

1st place: Maruf Khasanov, director and operator of main editorial board of “Cultural, educational and artistic-entertainment programs” of Uzbekistan channel, National TV and Radio Company, for film “Belbog” (“Belt”) and shows “Zargar” (“Jeweler”) and “Kulol” (“Potter”)
2nd place: Creative TV association “Samarkand-STV”, for a series of social TV clips “Bu – mening shahrim” (“This is my city”)
3rd place: Kakhramon Razzakov, director of “Yoshlar” TV channel, for TV clips “Tashkent-2200” and “Barkamollik sari” (“Towards excellence”)

Incentive awards:

1. Bakhtiyor Turakhonov, project manager, “Kelajak ovozi” youth TV station
2. Shakhnoza Mahmudova, executive editor, Navoi Region Television and Radio Company

4. Visual arts

1st place: Bakhtiyor Sanayev, chairman of Kattakurgan district branch of Tasviriy Oyina association, Samarkand region, for works showing achievements in socioeconomic, spiritual and educational spheres during the years of independence and the Year of harmoniously developed generation (2010)
2nd place: Albert Ahmedshin, artist, for art series “O‘zbekiston – mening Vatanim” (“Uzbekistan is my Motherland”)
3rd place: Erik Kulmanov, student of Kamoliddin Behzod National Arts and Design Institute, for works “Osoyishta Vatanim” (“Peaceful Motherland”), “Ona Toshkentim” (“Native Tashkent”), “Navruz keldi” (“Coming of Navruz holiday”) and “Oltin kuz” (“Golden autumn”)

Incentive awards:

1. Yekaterina Ivanova, MA student of Kamoliddin Behzod National Arts and Design Institute, member of Young Artists Association of Arts Academy
2. Temur Mamadaminov, student of Tashkent Architecture and Construction Institute, young photographer

5. Cinema

1st place: Hilol Nasimov, director of “Vatan” film studio, for directing feature film “Tahdid” (“Threat”)
2nd place: Dilnoza Kubayeva, actress of Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre, for roles in films “Muhabbatim-qismatim” (“My love – my destiny”) and “Hijron” (“Separation”)
3rd place: Khojimurod Valiyev, director of popular science and documentary films studio, for documentary film “Milliy tiklanish va yuksalish yolida” (“On the way of national revival and progress”)

Incentive awards:

1. Sultonmurod Mirzaahmedov, cameraman of Uzbekfilm film studio
2. Bakhtiyor Kasimov, cinema actor
