Academician Vosil Qabulov dies

The science of Uzbekistan has experienced a great loss. Renowned cybernetics scientist, academician of the country’s Sciences Academy Vosil Qabulov died at the age of 88.

Vosil Qabulov was born in 1921 in Tashkent. He graduated from the Central Asian State University (now Uzbekistan National University) and the Tashkent Railway Transport Engineers Institute.

In 1941-1945 he participated in the World War Two. In 1950 he entered the postgraduate course at the Constructions Institute (now Mechanics and Constructions Seismic Stability Institute. In 1964 he received the doctor’s title.

For his fruitful activity in science, Vosil Qabulov in 1962 was elected as a correspondent member of the Sciences Academy and in 1966 as its acting member.

During his almost 60-years-long scientific activity, he occupied various posts, including head of laboratory of the Mathematics Institute, director of the Mechanics Institute, academician-secretary of the Sciences Academy and director-general of the Cybernetics scientific and industrial association.

The famous scientist made a great contribution to the creation of the theoretical bases of the algorithmization for use in various sectors of economy and their introduction in practice. He published scientific works on algorithmization of solution of issues of continuous medium mechanics, problems of seismic stability of constructions and computational mathematics.

The achievements of Vosil Qabulov were worthily acknowledged by the state. He was awarded the title of the Honorary Scientist of Uzbekistan, State Award of Uzbekistan and El-Yurt Hurmati order.

The memory of the great scientist, talented organizer and modest person Vosil Qabulov will always remain in our hearts.
