As previously reported, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Dushanbe with a state visit at the invitation of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.

The main events of the visit were held at “Kasri Millat” Palace in Dushanbe. The ceremony of the official meeting of the President of Uzbekistan was held here. A guard of honor was lined up in honor of the honored guest. National anthems of Uzbekistan and Tajikistan have sounded. The Presidents passed the guard of honor.

Then the Presidents began negotiations in a narrow format. Prospects of further expansion and deepening full-scale bilateral cooperation in political, trade-economic, transport-communication, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as regional and international problems were discussed at the negotiations, held in a friendly and constructive spirit.

The Head of the state expressed his gratitude to the President of Tajikistan for the warm welcome and honor shown to the delegation of Uzbekistan and noted with satisfaction the positive dynamics of development of cooperation between the two countries.

The President of Tajikistan highly appreciated the activity carried out in Uzbekistan on strengthening the country’s potential and international authority, developing the national economy, improving the welfare of people.

Uzbekistan and Tajikistan demonstrate a strong commitment towards the consistent development and strengthening of partnership. The scale of bilateral cooperation is expanding, constructive political dialogue is improving. Important steps have been taken for further expanding contacts at the highest level.

Today, relations between the two countries are developing in accordance with the requirements of the new time. In particular, the basic principles of bilateral relations are reflected in the Treaty of Eternal Friendship, signed between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Tajikistan in 2000.

The sides are consistently continuing their interaction within the framework of the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international structures.

Mutually beneficial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Tajikistan is rising to a level that meets the long-term interests of people of the two countries, including the goals of ensuring peace, stability, security and sustainable development in Central Asia.

The Tajik side expressed support for the initiatives forwarded by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution “On strengthening regional and international cooperation for ensuring peace, stability and sustainable development in Central Asia” and “On enlightenment and religious tolerance”, as well as the UN Convention on the Rights of Youth.
