On November 9, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, the Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia Gherman.

On November 9, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Political Affairs Miroslav Jenca and the Special Representative of the Secretary-General, the Head of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA) Natalia Gherman.

The Head of our state congratulated N.Gherman on her appointment to the post of the head of the UNRCCA and wished her success, noted with satisfaction the productive nature of cooperation of Uzbekistan with the United Nations in general with the Regional Centre in particular, which until recently was headed by M.Jenca. The President of our country noted the important role of the UN in organization of the international conference “Central Asia: one past and a common future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity” that opens on November 10, in Samarkand.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan, as a full member of the world community, is taking an active part in international processes, forwarding and implementing concrete proposals, including on constructive solution of accumulated problems, ensuring security and stability, sustainable and long-term development of Central Asia.

Guests on behalf of the UN and its Secretary-General António Guterres expressed support for the goals and objectives of the international forum on ensuring security and sustainable development in the region.

As it was noted, the key initiatives forwarded by the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the 72nd session of the UN General Assembly on development of the international convention on the rights of youth, the adoption of the resolution “Enlightenment and religious tolerance”, conduction of regular consultations of the heads of the Central Asian states should make a significant contribution to the resolution of existing global and regional problems.

At the meeting, other issues related to expansion and strengthening of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the United Nations were also discussed.
