On November 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held bilateral meetings with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif and Minister of Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci, who participated in the International conference on security and sustainable development in Central Asia under the auspices of the UN, in Samarkand.

On November 10, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held bilateral meetings with High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Federica Mogherini, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif and Minister of Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci, who participated in the International conference on security and sustainable development in Central Asia under the auspices of the UN, in Samarkand.

At the meeting with High Representative of the European Union, it was noted that participation in the conference and conduction of the “EU – Central Asia” Ministerial meeting in the year of the 10th anniversary of the adoption of the EU Strategy for Central Asia show the importance attached by Europe to our region.

As it was emphasized, the EU is one of our key partners, and Uzbekistan strongly supports further comprehensive strengthening of mutually beneficial cooperation with the European Union.

At the meeting, notable positive changes on deepening multifaceted relations with the European side were noted. The interest in filling the partnership with the European Union with practical content in the sphere of investment and trade, financial and technical cooperation, education, exchange of best practices and technologies in a number of areas was expressed.

Issues of an international and regional nature, in particular, strengthening political trust and ensuring sustainable development in Central Asia were discussed.

The delegation of the European Union was acquainted with the reforms carried out in our country, including in the field of ensuring the protection of human rights and interests.

At the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran Mohammad Javad Zarif, prospects of further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries were considered.

It was noted with satisfaction that fruitful results of the bilateral meeting at the highest level in September this year, during the summit of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Astana, contributed to intensification of Uzbekistan – Iran relations.

Further development of political dialogue, increasing the volume of mutual trade turnover and strengthening cooperation in various sectors of the economy, formation of an effective transport and communication network in our region are defined as the priority areas of cooperation. It was emphasized that the important role in promoting mutually beneficial projects is given to the activities of the joint Intergovernmental commission.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran expressed gratitude to the President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev for the warm welcome and conveyed greetings of the President of Iran Hassan Rouhani.

Issues of practical implementation of agreements in the sphere of bilateral trade-economic, investment and financial cooperation, reached during the state visit of the President of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Turkey on October 25-26 this year, were discussed at the meeting with the Minister of Economy of Turkey Nihat Zeybekci.

Particular attention was paid to the practical implementation of specific projects in the sphere of modernization of energy and transport infrastructure, development of the tourism sector, as well as establishment of modern industrial enterprises and logistics centers, with attracting direct investments of leading companies and banks of Turkey.

Nihat Zeybekci conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes of the President of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan to the President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev and assured that the Turkish side is resolutely committed to the full implementation of arrangements and agreements adopted at the highest level.
