Meetings in WashingtonOn March 15, 2018, a delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva, who arrived in the United States for attending the 62nd session of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, started its working visit to Washington.
Within the framework of the visit, the delegation met with representatives of the Ministry of Labor, where they discussed issues of strengthening constructive Uzbek-American cooperation and interaction of the republic with specialized international structures in the field of improving the provision of labor rights in Uzbekistan.
The American side was provided information on the essence and significance of the five-year Action Strategy adopted at the initiative of the Head of the state, the scope of implemented internal reforms, the course of reforms in the judicial and legal system of the country, improvement of the labor legislation of the country, and the progress achieved by Uzbekistan in securing the rights of women.
The importance of the initiatives forwarded by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev on supporting women, creating favorable conditions and opportunities for them was emphasized. The recently adopted Decree of the President of Uzbekistan "On measures of radically improving activities in the sphere of supporting women and strengthening the family institution" was noted.
During the meeting with the Director of Washington office of the International Labor Organization, Kevin Cassidy, a thorough exchange of views took place on prospects of international cooperation in raising standards for the protection of workers' rights.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached on organizing the visit of Kevin Cassidy to Uzbekistan in 2018 and his participation in the round table discussion, organized by the ILO in cooperation with the World Bank, in November 2018.
