International conference on “Central Asia: one past and a common future, cooperation for sustainable development and mutual prosperity” has started in Samarkand.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev delivered a speech at the conference.

This forum that is being held under the auspices of the United Nations is aimed at issues of ensuring security and sustainable development in Central Asia.

The conference is being attended by ministers of foreign affairs of the states of the region, heads of such authoritative organizations as the United Nations, the European Union, the OSCE, the SCO, the CIS, the EBRD, representatives of diplomatic corps, famous experts, mass media workers – more than 500 participants.

Specific areas of enhancing cooperation in political, trade-economic, investment, transport-communication, water-energy, environmental and cultural-humanitarian spheres, as well as issues of joint struggle against modern threats and challenges will be discussed at the forum, which will last two days.
