Govt thanks citizens for helping Kyrgyz refugees

Some 100,000 people, who crossed the border into Uzbekistan after the tragic events of 11-15 June in the south of Kyrgyzstan, were temporarily placed in Andijan, Namangan and Ferghana regions of Uzbekistan and provided with required help.

The people of Uzbekistan have shown a great support to those who had suffered as a result of the tragic events in the neighboring country. A special bank account was opened by the Andijan regional administration for those wishing to help women, children, the elderly and the wounded.

In less than one week, about 3.9 billion soums were received to the special account. Besides, legal entities and individuals have provided food, medicaments, clothes and other required items worth over 7.8 billion soums.

The government of Uzbekistan expressed gratitude to the companies, organizations, state and non-state bodies, farmers and entrepreneurs, as well as all citizens who have contributed to assisting the refugees from Kyrgyzstan.
