569th anniversary of Alisher Navoi marked

The 569th anniversary of Alisher Navoi was marked on 9 February with a traditional ceremony at the National Park of Uzbekistan, which bears the name of the great poet and thinker.

Poets and writers, scientists, teachers, students, representatives of culture and art spheres, government and public organizations, as well as foreign diplomats took part in the ceremony.

The participants, among them State Advisor to the President H.Sultanov, Vice Prime Minister A.Aripov and hokim (mayor) of Tashkent A.Tukhtayev, laid flowers to the monument of Alisher Navoi.

The speakers at the event said wide measures were being taken in Uzbekistan to preserve and study the artistic and scientific heritage. The works of Alisher Navoi, in particular, promote ideas of humanism, unity, peace and love to Motherland.

The works of the great poet are studied all over the world and have been translated and published in many languages.
