Construction and reconstruction of roads of international and national importance is continuing in Uzbekistan in the framework of efforts to develop the country’s transportation and communication system. The work on reconstruction of Guzar-Bukhara-Nukus-Beynau road of the Uzbek national highway is in full swing. A large-scale upgrade of the 132-kilometer-long sector of the highway passing through the territory of Karakalpakstan is to complete this year. Excavation works will be performed on 54 kilometers of the road, 28 kilometers will be reconstructed, 10 kilometers will be covered with four-row asphalt coating and 40 kilometers will be made from asphalt and concrete. In some parts of the highway, passing through Khojayli, Kanlikul and Kungrad districts, laying of water and gas pipelines, as well as electricity grids will be laid and communications systems will be replaced. “The 15 meters wide road will become 27.5 meters wide,” said Priyar Ibragimov, chief engineer of state roads enterprise Karakalpakavtoyul. “Excavation works are underway at three sectors.” A new plant was put into operation in Kanlikul to provide road builders with asphalt. It produces 160 tons of asphalt per hour and employs more than 20 people. Along the Uzbek national highway camping grounds and hotels, as well as petrol stations, health units and parking sites will be constructed. DR Latest news: Who has got to the finish line first?
